  • What Happened to September??? Paul is on the Plane to Kenya!!!

A large portion of our Spring and summer was spent traveling. We set aside the end of August and September to regroup and prepare for our Fall trips. We arrived home from West Africa to find a hot water leak in our foundation. Praise God it did not flood the house and that the plumber had a cancellation and could make the repair quickly. It did result in holes in the walls, replacing a failing hot water heater and an old dishwasher that did not survive the jostling to repair the plumping. In addition, our refrigerator died; we now have a new one.

So, what happened to September? Paul and I have been updating our courses. I have been busy ordering new books and supplies for the children’s ministry courses and library. Paul also peer-reviewed an article for a mission publication. We feel like we blinked, and September was gone.

Paul is flying to Kenya today and taking a long-time friend, Lupe, with him to work on the seminaries’ network. Paul has come down with a cold, which is not ideal for flying! He will also start teaching the day he arrives, which is also not ideal!

I fly out on October 22. Paul and I will overlap in Kenya for about 2 weeks, then he will come home and I will stay until just before Thanksgiving. We will both teach two courses. Paul will be preaching in several of his student’s churches, as well as, giving attention to his many other responsibilities at the seminary. In addition to my classes, I will work in the Children’s Library and present a workshop on biblical (over cultural) discipline of children. Our time in Kenya is always very, very full. Please pray for health and energy!

  • Library Books Arrived in Kenya

A huge thank you to all who participated this past Summer in the Africa Theological Seminary Children’s Library Project. I wanted to send a quick update letting you know that the books arrived at the seminary this week! Praise be to God that they made it without issues. I dropped the boxes off in Dallas, they were loaded onto a container, shipped to Kenya, cleared customs, and went overland for many miles to the library.

I will be in Kenya for most of March. I will teach a course, help with graduation, do workshops, use the rest of the library money to buy books in Nairobi and process the books. Would anyone like to join me in working in the Library?

    Blessings,

    Donna

  • Giving info

At the moment Paul is in South Sudan working on a Radio Project. We had hoped to have a nice packet for you in the mail but do to some last minute minor changes it has been delayed. Hopefully you will receive this information, a prayer card with a picture of our family and more by July 1. Since we have had several request for this information I am sending out the blog without the Paul flair. All of this info is found on our website www.cox-net.com/get_involved. Once again I would like to thank you for allowing us to be in Kenya. God is doing some great things here that we cannot wait to share with you in person. Hopefully we will see you this fall!
    Blessings,
    Donna

We cannot do what we do here in Kenya without people like you who give financially. By giving, you are helping us to train the next generation of leaders for Africa. If you would like to give, there are a number of ways. The first is to give on-line. A link found on www.cox-net.com/get_involved will take you to International Christian Ministries (ICM) secure donation site. Available July 1, 2015

If you would prefer, you can send a check, use credit card or bank account transfer (ACH) via the post. A response card is available that you can print and use. http://www.cox-net.com/get_involved

Alternatively, checks can be mailed to:

    International Christian Ministries
    PO Box 129
    Monument, CO, 80132

Make the check payable to ICM, leave the memo line blank and include a note that the check is for either:

“Paul and Donna Cox Personal Support MU 020090 Fund 2001” or
“Paul and Donna Cox Ministry Expenses MU 020090 Fund 2012” or
“Safe House Project MU 020091 Fund 2006”

ICM’s preference is to avoid the use of the memo line on checks. For those who use Bill Pay or just prefer to use the memo line the following, and only the following, can be put on the memo line:

    “MU 020090 Fund 2001” or
    “MU 020090 Fund 2012” or
    “MU 020091 Fund 2006”

See above for an explanation of the MU and Fund numbers. Make the check payable to ICM, ensure that only a MU and fund number is on the memo line and mail to the above address.

  • Malaria

Crazy! The girls both tested positive for Malaria today.  I (Donna) became sick with it several days ago and am feeling better.  Paul has also had it recently.  Because we take daily prophylaxis our cases are not too severe but the treatments are not really great for you.  We all just feel weak, achy, and feverish.  Several friends also have it.  Please join us in praying against this.  Please also pray that one treatment will be enough.  It appears that each time we have to take several treatments. We are quite tired of it, but trying to find God’s will in the midst of it.

Normally it is Paul’s job to write the prayer blogs but today I decided to post a prayer blog. If you are interested in seeing more family news you can check out our family blog where I mostly post. www.cox-net.com/family_blog
